So today I finally got to sail in proper wind ( its been unusually calm around here for weeks). I was surprised that I could easily sail at 7.5 mph and had the boat over 8 for extended periods, and bursts up to 9.6! Boat was amazingly stable and I barely hiked out. I can't recall my 2012 boat ever getting over 8ish mph. All using GPS and with very minimal current so SOW=SOG. Anyone know what the limit is? |

I don't know what the limit is, but I've had the same experience as you have. The AI 2 is significantly faster than the AI. Keith |

Yes it is definitely faster in all conditions with the exception of straight down wind. Had a lot of fun on a gusty day in sheltered waters north of Scarborough ( Brisbane Australia). Average speed of 14kph (8.6mph) and a top speed of 18.8kph (11.6mph). The boat is capable of quit a bit more speed i would think. Here is a quick snippet. |

Those are outstanding speeds, even for a TI. Looks like you had optimal conditions. I think hiking out you could do even better. Pull the drive next time, rake the daggerboard back 1/2 way and try it. |
