Post subject:  Fitting steering spacer riser to pre 2015 TI

I just bought the spacer which raises the tiller on the 2015 Island (to allow for the new Vantage seats). As I have a Skipper seat on my 2012 TI, lifting the tiller on mine will bring it up closer to my easy reach.

However, the packet for the spacer (part # 84619001) does not include amy fixing bolt, although my assumption is that I will need a bolt almost two inches longer than the one used to secure the 2012 tiller.

Anybody know what I need?

10-32, 2 7/16" SST pan head phillips and blue locktite.
One of my screws was short and fell out so I would recommend starting with a 2 1/2" or longer screw and file\cut back if necessary. An Allen screw would probably be a better choice but the socket head might protrude from the counterbore in the handle slightly.
This was for a 2015 TI BTW

Or you can just turn your handle up, like I did, thus not needing the spacer. I also added the knob. Really like this placement of the steering handle.

THanks, I already have added the knob, but as my seat is quite high, increasing the vertical height of the tiller is what I need, so it is not such a stretch from the seat.

I really like the risers and use them without the knob. Feels like a real tiller handle since I can wrap my oversize hand all the way around it. They do protrude well above the gunwale though so perhaps an issue if you store or transport with main hull upside down.

No problem, Tony, but it is vertically higher the way I have it pictured. You adjust the rudder forward and backward with neutral in the highest position pointing up. I don't think the spacer would give you more than this vertical height, pictured?

I store my kayaks under my travel trailer for the summer. The 3" riser needs to removed to clear my axles. A quick disconnect method would help. How about a pop on riser and handle on top of the current base position one?
