Post subject:  Plug in cart - solo installation/removal on TI...?

Hi all, can anyone give me any tips on how they install/remove the Hobie scupper kart on their TI's when sailing solo? I am just about to upgrade to the Trax 2-30 and having used the older style and struggling I'm a bit concerned that this will prove difficult also. I roof top so that isn't an issue since the TI is always at an angle (hanging off the back of my car) for installation/removal there - it's when I am launching/recovering that I struggle. I currently tip the boat on it's side but worry that I am damaging the AMA's/AKA's, but don't want the hassle of removing them. Any help really appreciated :)

i simply roll my 2015 TI into the water and pull it out, then reinstall it in the water as well, its a bit tricky getting it back in but once i got the hang of it its not to bad

Pull one cotter pin out of one wheel and the wheel slides right out. With only one wheel on, the cart is easily manageable as it loses half it's buoyancy. Switch it to the top...wheel back on and your done. Works VERY well.

Do you have any tricks/techniques for getting the AI on/off those roof racks?

Side loader?

T-Loader?

Something else?

Pete, I'm assuming you're referring to my TI pic on top of my Landrover in my Avatar/signature? If so, I have two 1 ½" PVC pipes cable tied to the cross members - 11" centres roughly, but free to slide laterally. I have used an old bike rack which I modified with some gate hinges bolted to my rear tow bar/chassis (gotta love Landy's). The system is similar to a T Loader I guess. I simply (lol) man handle the bow onto the bike rack, using an off cut from a thermarest mattress to protect stern/rudder, then lift the stern whilst pushing at the same time - this slides onto the PVC pipes as the bike rack swings forward. Does that make sense?
