First time out with my new 2015 AI Mirage Drive.

No amas, no sail - just kayak mode.

I was hearing a loud "Click" each time the left foot is applied.

"Click" might not be precisely the right word, but it's the closest that I can come up with.

Only the left foot and only when pedaling near maximum effort.

Anybody been here?

At what point in the left foot pedal travel does the click happen? If it is at the point where your left leg is extended, it could simply be the fin reaching the end of its travel. Maybe your left leg extends slightly more than your right. See what happens if you increase the setting on the left pedal by one click.

Of course none of this applies if your sound happens at any other point in travel!

I do not think that is the case..... not at full extension.

I will observe more closely tomorrow, but the noises at extension is more a "Thump" as the flippers hit the bottom of the boar and/or the pedals smack up against the end of the cockpit.... and I heard my share of both today until I got the feel of the Mirage Drive.

Are you certain both of the drive locks were in the "locked" position?

If the drive is properly seated but one of the locks is "open" (the black lever is pulled back toward you) the drive works but will wiggle a bit and make a noise. (It can also lean sideways, which is what usually draws my attention to the issue more than the noise.)

On my '13 Outback I rarely have this problem, but on my '15 TI the well is much shallower and I find I have a tendency to catch the left side lever with my heel when stretching my legs out along the floor of the cockpit.

I had a similar issue the first time with my TI, found that the noise was when the release handle passed the other pedal. It seems I had a tendency to slightly "angle in" when I pushed with my left foot. The right did not seem to do it, but I could make the sound by pushing slightly left with my right foot when pedaling. I now know the sound and correct my stroke when I hear it and the sound is no more. Take a look at the clearance as the pedal arms pass by each other to see it they "rub". For me it was an easy fix to a mechanical issue that was caused by operator error.
