Post subject:  Check your V Brace / Mast Receiver set screw , I did not
I was sailing luckily in very light winds and noticed the mast would wobble back and forth quite a bit. I opened my front hatch and found the set screw for the V Brace/Mast Receiver had completely backed out and the mast receiver was ridding about 3/4" above the bottom of the hull. Upon returning home I checked my other TI and found it's set screw had backed out 1/4" and the turnbuckle lock-nuts had backed off also. My boats serial numbers were four numbers apart so I think they were assembled near the same time and may or may not have been put together with Loctite. I removed the V brace and reinserted the set screw with blue Loctite into the hull and then reassembled the rest of the parts and all is well.

Thanks, Jim. I noticed that the V-brace locknuts were quite loose on my boat as well just after I took it out for the second time. I had trailered it 1200 miles right before that, however, and I chalked it all up to road vibration. Maybe not....

I did NOT check the hold down nut on the bottom, however. I'll have a look at it tomorrow.

My lock nuts were also loose on a 2015 TI.

My 14 had loose fasteners too. 14mm & 11mm nuts.
while you are looking put an allen wrench on the topside bolts.
would be nice if they were metric too!

My locknuts for both backed off as well however I didn't check the base nut so will check that today

My base plate nut had worked loose a few turns.
Tightened and thread locked.

My '15 TI locknuts were also backed off. Actually, they were so far back (many turns) even on the top that I suspect they were never even snugged against the tube. I wouldn't think the nuts would back *up* the threads, and I don't invert the TI.

Haven't checked the nut at the bottom yet...

Edit: Looked at it this morning. Mine *seems* to be firmly held to the floor of the hull, but the pictures above suggest I should have some threads sticking up above the nut when properly tightened and on mine the threads are just flush with the top of the nut.

Finally got a chance to check mine. All of my locknuts were loose. The nut at the bottom of the mast base looks like your dune in the first post, however the mast base is flush to the floor.

Checked my 2012 AI and all bolts are nice and tight. Would be interesting to know if date of production has anything to do with those having an issue. Thanks for posting and giving everyone the heads up.

Is the base plate supposed to be flush to the floor on a 2015 TI?

On my TI the mast receiver is off the bottom of the boat by about 1/8". When I repaired my boats, I screwed the set screw into the nut on the bottom of the boat until it bottomed out. I then tightened the nut on the set screw until it was tight. This left a gap of 1/8" between the bottom of the boat and the mast receiver. In the picture below I put a 1/8" piece of wood next to the mast receiver to show the relative size of the gap under the mast receiver.

I've had my 2015 TI since June and I've been out maybe 6-8 times. Just checked my lock nuts and three of them were loose. I also checked some of the screws on the vantage chair and some of them were also loose. Guess loose screws and nuts are something that has to be checked from time-to-time, these boats do take a lot of abuse.
