Santa brought a jolly roger flag and club pennant (burgee). How do any of you fly decorative flags on your TI? Please share ideas, with pics if you have them.

I've wondered the same thing. Let me know if you find a solution.

i thought flags much like streamers would be counter productive on a sailboat

Yes and no. If you don't overdo things, a small flat or pennant isn't going to hurt performance by much and can serve as an apparent wind indicator as well.

You can trail a pennant from the top of the mast, or from the batten top first one back from the mast, or on a slim pole pegged into a rod holder.

We have a small jolly roger flag on top of our mast and it is very nice for reading apparent wind (which is really hard to read/predict without some sort of flag or streamer).
Easiest solution would be to tape a small fiberglass rod to the top of the mast. The top of the sail is open so the rod would stick thru, then just attach the sail to that (if I didn't have a mast topper for my jib and spinnaker, that's what I would do).
