My 10-year-old daughter and I love stooging about on our Revolution 11, especially now we have some Amas that make sailing so much more fun, and we are about to make the jump to the family truckster TI, so the whole family can potentially enjoy Jervis Bay and other closer waterways together (we live in Sydney pretty close to the Georges Rive and Botany Bay and we holiday in Jervis Bay). Accordingly we've booked a test sail with Totally Immersed Watersports in Sth Nowra. Any advice from owners (particularly those with kids) on stuff we should check out in terms of handling, especially for the kid? I assume the dealer will rig it for us, but the main things I want to get out of the test sail are an assurance that my daughter could have a practical hand in handling the sail and sheets, furling, managing the rudder and the skeg etc; and for her to feel confident sailing and pedalling it, as well as moving around on it. I believe sail handling and furling as well as rudder stowing and deployment can be done from either seat, but is the skeg only operable from the back seat (I was planning to put her up front) So for any folk here who sail a TI with their kids, any suggestions on a testing program for us / things to try out, with the aim of getting her buy-in and experiencing what the TI can do, would be greatly appreciated. |

Tramps make taking the kids out easier. Plus you can get your better half onboard with your daughter. Sent from my SPH-L720T using Tapatalk |

Thanks Tom - tramps are on our must-have list. |

A Hotstick, so they can steer while hiked out on the tramps. also, an inflatable raft or something. blow it up, drag them behind the ti, they would love that. Sure it slows you down, but its fun. Snorkeling gear. drop anchor, let them snorkel around the boat. just a few ideas Joe |

We had our test day - what a fantastic machine the TI is. We met Darryl from Totally Immersed Watersports in Nowra at Plantation Point, a nice little protected beach in Jervis Bay , helped rig the boat and then he sent me off with my eldest daughter in the front and the youngest one on the tramps. My daughters were nervous about sailing, as their experience with me on the back of my Revo 11 was a little exciting at times (especially when we were sailing without amas) but within a few minutes of getting the sail unfurled they were in love. We had about 30 minutes of sailing about in light winds. The boat is an absolute beast to move about on land (so heavy) but a delight on the water. Darryl then took my wife and daughters out while I looked after our two-year-old and took this short video. So, at the end all the members of the family enthused about |
