Can anyone tell me the roof-racked weight of the 2015 or 2016 Mirage Adventure Island - that is the hull, the amas and the mast/sail but not the parts that you'd normally put inside the car? The specifications state the following: Fitted Hull Weight*: 102 lbs \ 46 kg Fully Rigged Weight*: 185 lbs \ 84 kg On my 2014 AI, the amas weigh 14kg (together), the mast 5kg, the mirage drive 3kg, the akas 6 kg, the centreboard 1.5kg, the seat 1.5kg and the paddle 1kg (as best I can tell using my bathroom scales). Is this about the same on the 2015/16 model? If so, then the roof-racked weight would be 46 + 14 + 5 = 65kg - assuming that the akas, centreboard, seat and paddle go inside the car. |

Hobie's published weight figures should now be pretty accurate (they weren't for years) so going on their fully rigged weight you would only lose the paddle, miragedrive, seat and aka's from that figure of 84kg. Remember that the big difference between '15/16 AI's and your '14 are a larger hull, much longer and heavier ama and a built in/non removable centreboard. The most I'd say you could save in weight by carrying the items mentioned inside the vehicle would be around 12kg, so a rooftop weight of 72kg or so should be realistic.
