Does anyone have experience with torsion axles on boat trailers ?
I have been reading about them and they would appear to be a better choice than leaf springs for the light load of an Island. The most appealing thing is the possibility of lowering my trailer almost 6". My trailer isn't that high to begin with
but that awkward lift of the stern while loading has always felt like a recipe for a back injury to me.
I would have to widen the wheel base of the trailer but that wouldn't be a bad thing.
I don't think I can do it on my trailer but some torsion axles mount independently with no beam across the width of the trailer. That raises the possibility of an under mounted pvc sail carrier.

5 million+ VW Beetles can't be wrong! Sounds very interesting,
