today I decided to add a 7.5gal (I think) jug of water to the front footwell area and the difference was nothing short of amazing! The bow still slammed occasionally but never slammed so hard that it shuddered like before. the ride was WAY better and the helm was much more balanced. I'm not so eager to get rid of the TI for an AI now. I will sail it this way for a while and see how it goes! Maybe now I will work on refining the ketch rig and eliminate all lee helm! |

Thats great to hear! I was planning to try some ballast as well but didnt have a chance to get out last weekend. Putting it in the front footwell area makes more sense that putting it in the front storage compartment like I was planning. It reduces the risk if the water bladder leaks. The flip side is that camping gear packed in the bow compartment will offset how much water ballast is required. Paul Links |

I've been meaning to try this. A little weight and balance, or ballast issue solved. I have a sand bag I throw in the front of my Oasis the next time I go solo. Thanks. |
