I came across a couple of caravaners with islands on the roof of their 4wd's today. One of them had got bogged while trying to turn around on the narrow St George to Mitchell road. It wasn't surprising, the ground is like grease after a bit of rain in this part of the country - I thought we would get bogged in the pub carpark where we had camped the night. I stopped with my caravan to see if they needed a hand but a local was already in the process of pulling them out. Not sure if they are on the forum but one of the boats was called "Hobo". In other circumstances I would have liked to have said hello but there was no time. Cheers Brad |

Ray and Ken turned up not far from me in the Caravan Park in Longreach. Ray, the owner of "Hobo", is a builder of timber Kayaks. He was showing me an album of photos and they looked sensational! Gotta love a wooden boat! Ken's boat is not an island but is a Revo with some after market floats. He went this way for lighter cartopping. |
