| Post subject: | Rudder line leaks !!! |
I just checked my rudder line tube, water has pushed out all small o-ring and plugs. - How do you "seal" to prevent leak from rudder line leak on AI ? - Bungee cord I bought from online are not quality. Where do people buy "hobie bungee"? I need to fix this asap for upcoming trip. Thank you. |

Do you anticipate that your rudder line openings will be underwater most of your trip? If they are not, those openings are probably not a serious leak. Serious leaks occur around the front hatch seal on some boats and around the flat (horizontal) hatches if the ring seals are not lubricated properly. Keith |

Keith Yes the tankwell is underwater due to load I put on the back. Rudder line opening is one I need to fix. I already did the ROID fix for the front hatch. |

Before Hobie started using the rubber o-rings, we use to fill the ends of the rudder lines with silicon adhesive. Move the rudder just a little every couple of minutes till it sets, so it doesn't stick. It won't stop all water from the lines but will stop most of it. I fill it as far up the tube as it will easily go. You may also want to shift some weight (battery?) forward to more even the trim of your boat. |
