I have seen at least one post in which the OP said Red was not working for him. Seems like most are using Blue - even so Cooper does not rate it for boats of AI's length (http://cooperanchors.com/) The precipitating reason here is to have something to keep the boat from blowing away in an offshore wind/incoming tide when I forget to keep pulling it up the beach - and the idea of sticking a pole in the beach sand does not appeal.... Other than blowaway from the beach, the only other scenario I can think of is the Mirage Drive breaking in the vicinity of a bridge with little wind and an outgoing tide.... and that's something of a stretch of my imagination. ...... In my venue, all shores are friendly...... i.e. no rocks or piers or whatever.... and I'm not a fisherman. What is your comfort level with Blue? BCO infrequent use, I would probably stow it in the rear hatch or on the rear cargo area. Is Black too big to fit through the round hatches? .... Too heavy to stay put if it is on the rear cargo area under the bungees and the boat capsizes? |

I've no trouble with the red, but much of this depends on the composition of the bottom and the scope provided by your anchor line. The blue doesn't weigh much so there is little penalty moving that way if you wanted to. Just make sure to put out enough anchor line so that it can dig in as designed. |

Peter, quite clearly, the blue anchor is completely appropriate for an Island. Cooper rates the blue one for Jetskis etc, which outweigh Islands by a huge margin, so I would disregard their length limits Just remember not to attach any chain directly to the anchor, as its weight will make it harder for the anchor to fig in.. |

Jetskis not having much and the AI having a lot.Just remember not to attach any chain directly to the anchor, as its weight will make it harder for the anchor to fig in.. That being said, it seems like people are having success with Blue.... and even Red........... and nobody so far has confessed to using Black. It's probably spelled out on the Cooper site... but how long is your leash between the chain and your anchor? |

I just added a spare bit of braided rope I had lying around, but I would say at least six feet, to ensure the anchor is not prevented from doing its thing. |
