Post subject:  Reboarding a TI
Has anyone successfully used the RescueSteps (Lewis Mfg) for getting back on a TI (without tramps in place) ? If so, do you have any pointers ? I have two bad shoulders and so far using a homemade webbing loop fastened to either the TI gunwale handle or off either one of the Xbars only results in my feet and lower body rotating under the TI and no where to get a handhold. I've read many postings on the Forum, but a loop, regardless of where it's fastened only results in the same lower body rotation.

I've been able to get up on an AMA, but a 6'2", 240lbs I might as well try and fly across the Grand Canyon.

Any other products someone would recommend ?

I think by swinging your leg away from the boat just before placing load on the loop can get you moving upwards.

A suggestion might be to use a short length of rope to tie off the webbing loop, your step, to the handle on the ama. That way when you step on the loop it can't swing under the boat.

Because y ou do not have tramps, or for belt-and-suspenders in case a tramp fails or is not rigged?

I've been through a similar process (6'5", 220#) and could not work out anything reliable, so I made a single small tramp mainly to facilitate re-mounting. https://photos.google.com/share/AF1QipP ... JaRW5TYzBR

No shoulder problems, but my bod overall is no prize. ..... I am able to heave my butt up on to the ama, and then roll over on to the tramp and thence into the cockpit.

Somebody posted something in another thread about a knotted bow-to-stern grab line sized loose enough to act as a stirrup for re-mounts, yet tensioned by bungee during normal sailing. ...... Gotta give that one a try before the season ends.
