Post subject:  Tuna and crack in forward assembly where outrigger goes in

I am the proud owner of TI 2014. Apart from normal maintenance, I have never had an issue until last weekend when I was out sailing in the Darwin harbour. We were mid-sail when the outrigger started drifting away from the boat. I was in the front so I grabbed the tramp and managed to guide the front back in. After some wiggling, I reinserted the outrigger. When we pulled up on the beach I discovered the disconnection was actually due to a relatively large crack See picture below. Has anyone else had similar issues?

I am a loss to explain it, I furl down in heavy winds (which are rare in the top end - and no cyclone or monsoon sailing). No collisions or mistreatment. I keep it stored and covered in a locked cage - so almost no chance of third party damage. Any ideas?

Good news is we have been catching great tuna close in on hard body lures:
