My tandem island sail came brand new with some small line detached at the border. After 2 years , it is becoming worst and worst all around the sail. (see picture) I would like to cure this issue but I don't know the best solution. May be cutting, using some glue or a lighter could solve. Somebody who already have see this could help me ? thanks, Olivier

I have frays here and there my sail. I have not s one much but cut them down. If yours are continuing, I vote for cutting them down and use a fraction of a drop of super glue. Never tried that though. |

Yah, that's gonna happen with the edging tape. Not much to do other than cut off the parts that annoy you unless you want to take it to a sailmaker to have the whole edge replaced. A little clear nail polish might stop the fraying at a spot, for a while anyway. A hot knife might be useful to melt the fray, but it is pretty easy to mess up the mylar under it. When you say "small line" detached at the border, are you referring to the threads we see in the photo or is there a leach line we don't see? |

Yes, I didn't know the exact word for that. "small line" is referring to the red threads we can easily see on the picture. Following my local dealer advise, I have already test to burn one with the flame of a lighter but the thread didn't melt , it just burn quickly. So the easiest solution is to cut them and finalize with a small drop of glue or clear nail varnish. I was not to much concern about it at the beginning, but now it is all over the sail like this and both side. So I have to care. Thank you for your advise. Olivier |

I've had this problem. I've been using Dritz 674 Fray Check Liquid Seam Sealant which seems to help. |
