My new AI is all snapped together in the garage but in the box there are two rubber cup shaped parts I cannot identify. Probably 1 1/2 inches diameter and 2-3 inches long. They look like something you might use to plug a hole or perhaps snug a fishing rod. Any ideas? Thanks! Doug |

You're on the right track Doug. They are scupper plugs designed to plug the scupper tubes and stop water getting in the rear storage deck. Only problem is that water enters over the side and the plugs then create a bath tub so they are virtually useless in all but the calmest of conditions. |

And all the while, I thought they were for tequila shots after a sail! ![]() ![]() ![]() |

@Stringy Exactly! If it's calm, they likely would not be necessary, and if it's splashy, they'd kinda work against you. Seems to me it would be better design to have a venturi-type drain (like the one under the seat) at all "low" spots on the deck where water might collect? |

Those plugs could be a critical spare part. If you use any attachment that uses the scupper drain there is a possibility that you could damage the tube between the upper deck and hull. Just a hard drop off a cart might damage one. Standing in the boat and putting all your weight in the wrong place could damage the tube....but if you have one of these plugs along you could plug the hole from the bottom and not sink. |
