Post subject: | 2017 TI Steering Setup |
So I picked up a 2017 TI at the end of last year that was a dealer demo. The front and rear steering handles have never completely lined up, which bugged me. I started digging into the rudder system, while it took a few minutes of starting at it to figure out how it worked, isn't all that bad. While digging through it, I noticed my setup is a bit different than what is shown on the diagram here: ![]() I don't have a pivot or block ahead of the front crank, but instead the steering ends at the front crank. Instead of two cranks that look like the picture, my front crank has what appears to be the PA steering drum (Hobie part: 84500502) and the two strings are tied to it. I cant find that part number anywhere associated with the TI. Is this how it should be? Also, should there be washers between the springs and the hull, to keep the spring from chewing up the support? Do I have a mutant boat since its a demo boat? Trying to figure out how to upload my own pictures so I will get those in a moment to make it clearer. |
