Been sailing my TI for 2 years now. Its a used 2012. But, I can't figure out 2 things:

1) What is the webbing loop (below the sail top just a few feet down) used for. They show it in the book but no name or use, least that I have found.

2) On the bottom of the rear akas, there are bungy cords. I would figure for paddle tie down, but the paddle clips are to one side of those bungies. Never did find a use for that either.

Also, my akas may a fair bit of noise when under a wind, creaking and such. Is that normal or do those hinges need to be replaced. Tried mounting a camera on the akas, but the noise ruins any video.

Thanks

1)-webbing loop was for the jib kit that was never released.
2)-bungee is for securing the folded aka/AMA to the hull. Clips onto a small bungee button near the mesh pocket.
Need more detail on the noise problem. Is it coming from the hinge itself or play between the hinge and the aka tube?

Ah ha. Thanks. On #2 never thought of that, but good to know. I don't use dolly much, and just lashed the ama to secure, but now I will use that tool.

The noise is coming from the hinge area, kind of hard to tell really. There is some play on the hinges in rough water, but I watched other peoples videos and I generally see the same thing - akas flexing about. Really I was wondering if they needed replacement, but not much point if its normal. This is like describing a noise to my mechanic lol. Just got back from sailing, but going on a sailing road trip in a couple days, so will try to take note of exactly where noise is coming from and maybe video it.

Spend a couple weeks sailing fresh for a change, but no more noise. Maybe it was salt residue in there somewhere, but I clean after every sail. Oh well. It will come back.
