Post subject:  Optimum Weight Distribution for a Loaded TI???

I'm planning on sailing in the Florida 120 with a crew member in 2020 in my 2014 TI. Previously, I've completed the Texas 200, but that was solo and the boat was pretty lighted loaded and was quite forgiving as to gear placement.

My concern is comments I've read of previous other TI owners " sailing adventures" where most of the weight (approaching the 600# capacity) was placed almost entirely in/on the main hull causing issues. In the 2017 Texas 200, a heavily-loaded TI actually swamped which was a little disconcerting. It was beached, bailed out and soldiered on successfully.

Here's my scenario:
Crew (2): 350#
Other weight on main hull: 50# (cooler, water, GPS, etc)

Say, the other stuff (in dry bags) weighs about 100-125#. Where's the best place to put this weight? My initial thought is on the outer portion of the trampolines, so the amas can better carry their fair share of the weight.

Some of you Water Tribe types are far more experienced in this type of sailing. Your expert thoughts are appreciated.

HI Gary. I can't offer anything specific because I have an AI, but I remember what happened on the Tx200 in 2017. As I recall, the guys had packed an excessive amount of water (and gear) for the trip with most of it located in the stern. Was that you understanding too? I think we decided that as they took on water as typically occurs, it all shifted to the stern worsening the situation till they reached a point of no return.

I would think that as long as you balance your gear's weight between the bow and stern you should be good. I understand your concern though. The sight of a sinking TI tilted at 45 degrees like the Titanic is burned into my head forever!
