Has anybody made a TI mast topper using a 3D printer? I just got a 3D printer and thought of replacing my topper with a taller longer one. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk |

Not just taller, but longer. So the main sail clears the spinnaker halyard. Maybe there is a design out there thats better. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk |

Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk Realistically, if you want to avoid any intervention to prevent any clashes between the mainsail and the spinnaker halyard, you will need to take extreme measures, such as extending the topper way back past the square top of the mainsail and/or extending the height of the topper by quite a few feet to lift the halyard out of the way of the main. Neither "solution" comes without its own negatives... I solved the problem with two simple changes 1) I threaded about 30 inches of lightweight pvc garden irrigation drainage pipe on to the halyard, attached to the back of the topper with loose zipties. This generally enables the mainsail to slip past the halyard 2) Sometimes, it is easier to just partially furl the mainsail until it will fit under the spinnaker halyard during a jibe |
