Good day all. I just bought the Hobie wind vane that goes on top of the mast. The only issue I have with it is trying to place it with the arm out in front of the mast. Each time I try I put it in the wrong position. Anyone have a tip on how to place it correctly?

Put the wire part poking out, the opposite direction/side to the stitching in your sail :)

Debated on starting a new topic, but figured a search on wind vane is better kept together. Below are pics of a method someone in my family employed which is pretty simple. The only catch is that you have to singe/melt with a small awl a hole in the nylon captive strap that loops over the top of the mast cap. Then drill a small pilot hole about 1/25" into the mast cap and attach a 1/2" SCH 40 PVC cap. Then using a "Little Hawk" wind vane and wine cork (check you cork fit in the 1/2" PVC before committing, some are too loose). That's it, pretty simple if you ask me. I'm adding one the the 2013 AI in the back ground tomorrow.
