Post subject:  Mirage drive cup shape fin.

I recently purchased a used Hobie mirage Adventure. The drive that came with has turbo fins. The rear fin is cup shaped on the trailing edge near the top of the fin. This is the first time I have seen a mirage drive. All the pictures I’ve seen show the fin straight on the trailing edge. Is this normal? If not do you have any idea how it got that way.

Thanks in advance for your help

Check the mast for a bend. Otherwise, fins get distorted from use. Likely ill not be an issue.

Thanks for getting back to me. I did a little more research and found out the masts are supposed to be straight. Both of mine are bent at about 30 degrees. Since they both looked the same I thought they were normal. The previous owner must have hit something hard and often. I removed them and straightened them as best I could. At some point I will have to replace them. Once put back together everything looks like it should. Unfortunately I broke the brass part that holds the mast. I ended up drilling a hole in the plastic and the brass part, leaving the drill bit in the hole and use it to lock the brass part in place. I used the same method to tighten the mast. Is there a more permanent way to repair this or do you just bye a new part?

A new sprocket would be required.
