Post subject:  SeaDek for the TI

Hi. I spoke to my local Hobie dealer yesterday and he told me that SeaDek does not offer a kit for the Tandem Island, only the Adventure. Does anyone know how I should go about getting a kit made for a TI? Is this something I'd have to make myself? Are there other reputable manufacturers out there like Marine Mat that offer a TI kit? Thanks!

There are no such kits for the TI as far as I know but you don't need one. It's easy to cut one out yourself using bulk sheets available from Hydro-Turf and others.

Using clear plastic sheathing, simply trace out the pattern directly from the TI's deck using a sharpie. Then cut the sheathing and use it as a template to cut the bulk deck material. The Hydro-Turf I used had an adhesive backing. Simply clean the TI's deck using denatured alcohol and apply the material. It will last for many years.

I like the looks of that. I think that would help cut down on noise and add to comfort. Not to mention it looks great!

Yes but it also adds weight - a considerable amount depending on how much surface you intend to cover.

??? The stuff is very light foam and very little is needed for the TI. A 37"x58" bulk sheet weighs only one pound.

Thank you. I was going to ask if needed more than 1 sheet.

It all depends upon which sections you wish to do. It's very easy to measure. Also, the sheets come in various sizes.

SeaDek has the dimensions posted for the AI kit. I am going to compare the dimensions of the cockpit area, but I can’t imagine they are very different- the TI just has an extra one. If it’s a close match, I am going to order the AI kit and then contact SeaDek to see if they will sell me another but without the pieces for the rear cargo area. I’ll post my findings.
