My ama bungi's are tired and in need of replacement. How do they come out?? Appears the black plastic disc might thread out, but I've had no luck so far. |

Put a needle-nore plier in the tabs and a vise grip on the pliers. Apply steady pressure and it will slowly turn out. |

Confirming Larry is correct - grab with pliers or vice grips (not too tight), rotate counter-clockwise (standard thread). |

"Warm" tip to share here...that spanner tool is really good to have as needle nose are far more prone to slip and mar the black inserts. Many of them are pretty snug so to encourage them to break free a lot easier take a head gun and gently warm up the plug and surrounding insert area. This softens the threaded connection and really makes removal of stubborn inserts easier. When I put the inserts back in I put just a little smear of clear waterproof o-ring grease. |

I bought the 71115101, and it works everywhere except the front hatch bungies, which set too deeply for the tool to reach. Has anyone found a socket type pin spanner that works? I also don't like using needle-nose pliers for this situation. I've been "bit" too many times. This is what I have in mind: https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/RxkAAOSwT~9Wjt5c/s-l300.jpg Brett |
