I think I've seen prior posts debating the impact that the change in angle of the main sheet will cause on sail shape/performance. I'm a taller guy (6'2") and prefer to sail from the back seat of my TI. I've come close to building one of these just to see the difference, but I'm definitely nervous on the potential pressure a strong wind might impart on the joke of fishing rod holders. Having to duck for the line has not over-weighted the risk of a cracked hull for me. I'd love to hear opinions of those who have done this.

Thanks for the link, this is exactly what I had in mind. Yes, I wondered at the difference in aerodynamics or sail noise, it's a shame this video didn't show the sail in use. ISTM the holes should be quite sturdy, if they're supposed to hold a long pole being levered by a fish on the end.

Hi, I have a new TI, which is great. The problem is with the height of the sail / angle of the main sheet. My rear passenger is not a tall person, yet the sheet keeps hitting her in the head unless she literally slides down off the edge of the rear seat. The sail is fully unfurled, yet this just doesn't seem right. Is there something I should check for? Problem with the rigging? Anything I can do? I almost want a h-bar mounted on the back of the boat, with a mainsheet block mounted on top of that, to keep the lines well above the rear passenger's head.

Normal to hit the rear passenger when tacking, but otherwise should be fine. Tell her to duck when tacking/gybing or take the back seat. People have built rigs to raise the sheet height, never tried this, my wife is short.
