Well I have been a kayaker and sailor for over 18 years. I have experimented with downwind sails and hydrofoils. All of it was a lot of fun. Now being part of the Hobie Kayak Fishing Team I have got a new 2008 AI. I spent some serious time on the KFS Forum and this one to make sure that the boat had all the upgrades and spare parts for extended trips I would like to thank AlohaDan for putting me in the right direction and really taking some time thru email to make sure I was on the right track. I look forward to being more involved with this forum and hearing about what other AI owner’s are doing I plan to do an extended trip up here in NJ on the Intercoastal waterway, that puts in near NYC Harbor, by Sandy Hook, I might try a 4-5 days depending on how long I can get off work, and get time away from my wife and 2 small children. If you have kids you know how that go's until they get bigger Can’t wait to see more pictures and see how you guys are tuning up your rides thanks At least now I got over my first post on this forum |

I should have thanked you also when I thanked Dan you both gave me some great info and suggestions for really rigging the boat for offshore fishing and sailing I have only had the boat out a half dozen times and I really want to get it out there more before I rush to rig it wrong I am going to put a fish finder / chart plotter on the boat so I can see nautical charts, gps position and of course fish. I did keep a list from the emails I received from you and Dan and created a spare parts bag I keep on the boat, with tools for every nut, screw and bolt on the boat I am using the standard rod holder for the moment until I figure out a better way to sail and troll. I put ram balls inside the netted pockets to hold some electronics like GPS That’s really it for now, I am waiting for it to warm up in the NE so I can get out more |

Aloha Al Welcome to Hobie land. I'm still working on my rod holders myself. Hope to have something soon. |
