Hi. I would like to ask if it is ok to store my brand new AI on its side like on the picture. Is there any problem concerning hull deformation? I have no other free space to store it as you can see, only against the wall but on the floor (not hanged). Thank you in advance for your replies.

I store our 2 AIs on the rails w/o problem. For these AIs, I simply use 2 campstools w/ cloth seats. Keith |

Thank you very much. I do not store the kayak on the rails. But on its side. The rails do not touch the floor. The campstools surely make much difference but how about the floor? It is much harder. |

"Rails" probably a poor term. I meant I store our 2 AIs on their side like you. I use simple camp stools w/ cloth seats, about 15" off the floor. Camp stool: http://www.campmor.com/outdoor/gear/Product___40120 Keith |

Hi again guys. I would like to ask you if it is ok to store my AI on the trailer on the Hobie cradle set during the winter?. Do you have any experience on this? |

If you're going to store it long term in the winter, get a couple of 2x4s and set them on top of the cradles with the kayak turned upside down on the 2x4s. Minimal cost solution. |

I have stored my TI on its trailer for over two years now without any distortion, however, this includes support midway between each cradle and that end of the hull. |

@Tonyscott - I plan on storing my TI on the trailer during the winter too. If I set up some rollers at the bow, stern, and mid ship between the cradles do you think that would offer enough support to minimize hull distortion? |

Just flip it for the winter the strongest points on these yaks are the stern and the rails. Or I would put some PVC pipe in between the cradles. |

There is no need to take your TI off the trailer and store it upside down in the off season. That is just unnecessary work for no extra benefit, in my opinion. No need for a roller between the cradles either. Just set up rollers midway between each cradle and that end. The hull is easily stable enough with only these four points of support, and the amas, still attached but folded in, need no further support than just the cradles. |
