Ok people. The beach wheels on the plug-in and kayak dolly should be inflated to 2-4psi. My experience of being a mechanical fitter is that pressure gauges have a sweet spot in their gange. I.e; a general purpose 0-100psi gauge will read its most accurate in the 30-90psi range. So how are you measuring the tyre pressures? |

I measure with my eyes, I put the boat on the cart then pump up the cart wheels till they no longer look too flat. I don't have a pressure gage that measures accurately. I got tired of filling my tires weekly so I squirted in about a half cup of slime into each tire (slime is a green goo made for bike tires that prevents them from leaking and self repairs small leaks (I bought mine at Walmart in the bike department). One word of caution about slime though, once me and wife were at kayak launch, I inserted the cart with the boat on its side, then just shoved the boat hard to right it. The tire had been cut by a sharp sea shell on the side wall, when the boat landed the tire burst and completely covered my wife with slime, absolutely true story, that I will never live down. Also I have 6 kids all of whom whenever the subject of kayaking comes up always chide me about running into them and tipping them over. Even if true (it is), I always hear about it, then the slime story comes out, and it's laughs all around. So be careful with that slime. Bob |

Ditto on the slime, I have it in several sets of small tires, dolly, welding machine, wheelbarrow and it helps reduce how often I have to add air. I just fill non vehicle\trailer tires by feel, no need to be that accurate IMHO. Haven't tried coating the wife with slime yet. ![]() - C |

Yes, great idea about covering the wife in slime, especially if it reduces the amount of air that leaks out. |

Hope she doesn't read that you are thinking of reducing the mount of air she leaks out ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

As with tires, it's all about where the leak is coming from ![]() |

I got a low pressure pump and gauge for my Mountain bike shocks. I agree on the visual as a good reference though. |

Will the green slime stop the air coming out of the Mrs when the wind blows, the ama is burried and the spray is going over my head and not into my cheesy grin, so I don't have to hear "furl that bloody sail"? |
