Hello everyone, I have a new-to-me AI that I'm trying to figure out how to get it from my condo, down the street to the beach access ramp. The ramp is 1/3 mile down the sidewalk and I'm expecting it to be too far to simply roll with the Trax 2-30's. I haven't used the dolly yet (just got it yesterday) so please correct me if I'm wrong about this being an issue.

My initial thought was to put the Hobie Trax2 dolly in the rear scupper like normal and then put other wheels under the bow and roll it like a cart. I googled "kayak cart pvc diy" and there are some fairly cheap plans out there that seem to work. What do you experienced guys think about that?

Zach take a look at this thread. I'm in the process of building something like this to do what you are talking about for the front of the boat while using either the HD scupper cart or full size cart at the rear. I can tell you that I would not want to roll my TI that distance while all of my gear is aboard but I have the additional weight of two spineboard Hakas and I often take a Yeti Roadie cooler as well. I really want a swivel wheel at the front but have not found an inexpensive marine suitable solution. It might be fine to just use a non swiveling wheel in which case you could just use a plastic lawnmower wheel.

I'll post some pictures of revision 1.0 when I get it built.

Thanks! Yes, a swiveling caster wheel would work best for just sidewalks like I'm needing. Maybe something like this: Harbor Freight: 10 in. Pneumatic Heavy Duty Swivel Caster

I do a 500m walk with my A.I. (fully loaded with gear weighs about 80kgs) along a dirt-road/sealed road/beach
using a Trax 2-30 cart without an real issues.

If I need a rest I simply lower the front of the yak onto the ground and take a breather. I thought about a third
wheel at the front, but it honestly wouldn't have made enough of a difference to make it worthwhile.

Mike.

If I were in your place, I'd consider adapting a trailer dolly.

I haven't tried all of this yet. I've been sailing mostly in the intercoastal. One of these days I'll get brave and try the ocean.
