We just bought a new truck and I'm looking for advise on how to get our TI onto the Thule Xporter pro rack. Here is an old link of someone using one on a similar truck.

We have a trailer but can't use the trailer when we go to our other place down in Key West (no parking anywhere for trailers), or when we are pulling our camper unless we take two cars (which we don't really want to do), here is our trailer:
Here is our new GMC Sierra Denali with our new camper:
The Denali is a very short bed truck (5 1/2 feet). I was thinking about putting two eight foot PVC 1 1/4 tubes on the center of the racks mounted on 11 inch centers, then shoving wooden broom handles into the PVC tubing for added strength (thats what I did on my trailer). I may need to add a foam block to hold and steady the PVC piping over the cab (TBD).
Fortunately the racks are adjustable up and down so I could lower the rear rack when loading, slide the boat forward then raise the rack back up.
I didn't really have any issues loading using the old hitch T-bar with our old SUV, I'm hoping this will be easier (since I can stand on the tailgate to lift the bow).
Does anyone have any better ideas......
