Somewhere I came away with the impression that Trailex wants us to use their own parking jack on their trailers.

But I see several forum participants are using other jacks - from Harbor Freight on upwards in quality.

Has anybody seen any problems with using a non-Trailex jack?

I'm thinking mainly the dimensions of the Trailex tongue and/or dissimilar metals in contact and the resulting galvanic corrosion.

Reason I'm interested in something non-trailex is, contra-intutively, additional weight. .... The Trailex product looks relatively light.... but I'm trying to get more tongue weight, so want something heavy/clunky.

Maybe cuz they want to sell them to you? Unless it is a dissimilar metals issue (I doubt)... I see no reason you wouldn't be able to use the jack of your choice.

You can always put a spare tire, which you should carry regardless, along the tongue somewhere.

Damn...I feel dumb....

Good catch: between the spare and the addition of a winch, that should do it....and the trailer jack would just be gravy.

Thanks!

I dont know what other options are out there but Ive been using this simple tire holder for my spare mounted to the trailer frame with no issues.. http://www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Cargo-C ... 050-2.html Note.. this may not be the exact one Im using.. they may have options depending on the size or the trailer tires ???

I have been using a jack I got from Walmart with no issues for 2 years. The trailer is so light, you don't need much. I keep the spare tire in the back of my truck.

Thanks
