| Post subject: | A different rudder problem encountered |
Yesterday while out on my AI, the rudder cord broke. The break happened several inches from the rudder itself on the outside of the boat. Unlike a rudder pin, when the cord snaps you're out of luck and have to improvise a rudder using your paddle. Fortunately I was close to where I launched and able to get back with no problem. The day before I traveled a long distance so I'm thankful it didn't break then. Wondering if anyone else broke a rudder cord on their AI ? |

Never had that happen. Something else besides outright failure might be involved. Any chance it could get rubbed during storage/transport? |

It had to have been damaged in transport. |

I'm glad to hear that it's not a common problem and I'm not sure what caused the line to fail. It very well could have sustained some sort of damage beforehand. Especially since it was exposed on the outside of the boat so I'll keep an eye on that in the future. The Hobie dealer by me (Tackle Shack in Pinellas Park, Fl) fixed it right away so I'm good to go again. They're a good service facility with some good people. |
