Thanks TxYackMan. Did you get it through the mail or through your dealer ? |

Mine came through the USPS a few days ago and I'll be installing mine this weekend as well. |

I got mine several days ago. I installed it and tried it out yesterday. Boat behaved just like it did when I used a bolt to hold the rudder down but it's easier and quicker to hook and unhook the bungee. |

That good news Jerry. Hats off to the engineers @Hobie cause that is nifty idea. Do you think the new rudder pin helped/changed anything? |

Quote: Do you think the new rudder pin helped/changed anything? Completely fixes the left steering issue when using strong down line tension. FYI... using the bungee hold-down makes down line tension pretty much unnecessary as well. |

OK, Sanity Check Time. Is drilling 3 holes (inline) through the rudder and housing not a potential new source of rudder failures? Plus, we have just added a hole, a bolted cleat and a bungee at the weakest part of the blade. These blades were pretty much snapping there before these "improvements". Just sayin,... |

You drill two holes on above the other in the housing and one on the rudder. The 3 holes are not inline. Only out with the new mod once but so far it worked fine. Going out on Sunday stripped down to a kayak and we peddling three miles up a river and back. Sure hope the rudder does break and leave me up a creek. |

Installed all the fixes. Rudder bungee looks promising. Hope to try it out very soon. |

Ok...I did get a chance to try out the newly installed rudder pin and yes...it does seem to help reduce tension in the steering lines when the downline is tensioned. A good intermediate fix from Hobie. |
