http://flic.kr/p/paf79E Hope this pic shows...... The TI AMA will not lock in place. I have been to the dealer and he has tried with a brand new AMA and still it won't lock in place. What is the repair for this problem? This is a 2012 TI. The line I have is rated 1200# I'd like to get real fix cause the knuckle is out of alignment, who knows what that is doing and if the line snaps I am going swimming. The dealer didn't have a ready reason and was reluctant to hazard a guess at the cause let alone the repair Thanks in advance |

It has to be a minor misfit of the locking slot on the Aka knuckle, or for some reason the push-pin on that cross brace is malformed or not functioning properly. I don't want to second guess your dealer, but this should be an easy fix. Try taking one of the other akas and inserting it into that particular slot. If it locks in easily, then it's the aka knuckle on the original aka that is the problem. If none of the other akas will lock in there, then it's the push-pin in that cross brace that is the problem. I wish I had your boat here - I could fix it in 10 minutes. |

My guess. The long screw from the boat cleat is preventing the Aka clip from engaging. Try removing it and retest the Aka. |

Tom if only you were in my area! As others have said your YouTube videos and posts are the embodiment of innovation. None of the other amas will lock in. The dealer tried that AMA for that specific side from a new boat and no amount of shoving or ramming would make it lock. Ok I will order a push pin and find out what it will cost for the repair. Thank you |

Nohuhu. Mmmmm It's been so long that I can't remember if put in the cleat before or after the AMA problem. I did put in the cleat to try out SunE Sailors anchor mod. Easy to validate Thanks for the suggestion |

At least you have validated that it is something to do with the cross brace. That's a good start and should lead to a remedy. Hold off on the push pin until you make sure your cleat screw/s aren't interfering. Although I had assumed you only put the cleat on there after and because the aka wasn't locking in. |

This solution was worth getting a picture account Nohuhu nailed it. It was the cleat screw. When I removed the water side screw it was deformed from the AMA trying to lock. I've been working to troubleshoot trailer light wiring and one of the internet guides sagely says "Prove to yourself something works, don't assume." It was with that advice that I gave Nohuhu's suggestion a try. Thanks to you both ![]() |
