Hello all, I need to replace the stretched-out bungee cords that connect the akas to the amas. I measure 1/2 inch in diameter, but do not find that diameter on parts dealers web sites. Can someone tell me where and what size to buy replacement bungees? Thanks |

I have used Austin Kayak for things. They were good. austinkayak.com |

West Marine stocks 1/8" to 3/8" bulk bungee cord. My 2014 Tandem uses 5/16 cord on the single bungeed amas. I am adding a second 5/16 bungee today. My AI 2 uses 1/4" bungee on the stock double bungeed amas. Keith |

Thanks for the replies. I own a 2014 Tandem Island. It came with single bungee AKA/AMA attachments. Will two 1/4 inch bungees fit through the holes in my shock cord screw-in ends? |

yes, once you open them up a bit with a file. While you have it disassembled, why not add a safety strap" made out of Hobie dyeema rudder line. Make a loop which fits over the stud on the aka, while the other end (inside the black stopper) is tied to the bulk of the knotted bungee cord. Make it short enough so the ama cannot drop out of the aka, but loose enough so the bungees can do their shock-absorbing work. |

Thanks for your reply Tony. I have new 1/4 inch bulk shock cord, dyeema and double shock cord assemblies on order. How much do you enlarge the holes? Until two 1/4 inch bungees slide through? Or just big enough that you need to compress the bungees to pass through? Oblong or round holes? I don't want to be a pain (too late for that), but do not want to make any mistakes. Thanks |
