After many many years of use my 2005 Hobie Outback has just sprung a leak in the drive well area. Attached is a picture of the crack from inside the kayak shaped like a backwards J. Has anyone here ever repaired this type of crack? I have gotten some great advise already but wanted to put this out here to see what others have done. ![]() |

That looks like the plastic wearing thin then finally being push through by the drive rather than the usual stress crack, maybe. If it snot a stress crack then maybe plastic welding may work better than it usually does for stress cracks. Does it look worn from the topside.? My 2006 adventure got a bit thin at this point and ended up with a faint similar crack. Have'nt bothered repairing it as I upgraded anyway. |
