Hi from Austria!

We have our TI since 2016 and are since searching for the reason for the water in one of our amas.
This year, when I was cleaning the boat I heard a noise from one of the amas. That was where the Warm air was pressed out of a small hole where the front aka is installed. Having a closer look at this point, and comparing it to the other aka holes showed me something like molding error.

And I always thought that the o ring at the stern was defective :roll:

How can I fix this problem?
Is there any support by Hobie, because it's a production failure?

Have your dealer take a look. The issue is not clear to me. May be able to weld though?

I´ll contact a dealer here in Austria.
And i have to admit, that on my pics it´s hard to see what´s the problem. So i´ll try to explain.
The leak is where the top and bottom half of the amas are welded together, inside the holes/tubes for the aka bars. The bottom end of the tube is creased and out of the center of the hole of the bottom half. At the other 3 holes theres a plain where the "washer" of the akas sits. These "plain" there is not flat. The noise of the air blowing out of the ama came form the creased area. When i pressed my finger on, it stopped. Since it´s very little space in there, somebody has to be a really good welder. But you never know ;-)

I hope i could make the case a little bit clearer. Unfortunately google reduces the resolution of the uploaded pics...

Armin,

There is no seam there. The hull is one piece, but it is possible during de-molding the part stuck and deformed that area. It should be a simple fix if you can heat a rod and then touch the area to fuse some material over it.

Work with the dealer on a possible replacement. The distributor in Europe would need better photos.

Thank you for your explanation Mat. I really thought, that the ama is made from a top and a bottom part... Stuck during de-molding sounds very likely to me. If i´d try to fix the Problem with a heated rod, how much "flesh" do i have? Can i only fuse the surface, or can i go deeper 1 or 2 mm?

Should be enough material around the area.
