Post subject:  Aka wear/drive moves
I have a 2015 AI that I've stored on a trailer for five years. I made the mistake of leaving the Akas/amas on. The Akas/amas aren't lower than the hull so there is pressure on them. So the rivets are loose and I have to replace them, on all four Akas. The pin in the joint/hinge (not sure of the name) is loose as well so I'd like to replace them along with the rivets.
Replacing the rivets is easy, I don't know about joint/hinge pin though. Is it just a straight pin that's pressed in, that I'd just press out, get a larger one and press it in? I know the easy fix is to just buy four new Akas, but I don't have $500 just lying around.

I also have slop in my drive, so much that I stopped using it. The drum shaft moves side to side in the locks and the entire drive rocks front to back. The drive makes so much noise that I've stopped using my AI. I'm not sure what happened to the drive since it's been fine for the last five years. Any help would be appreciated.

Aka to casting wear will be corrected by the glue and rivets. The wear at the stainless pin is not fixable as far as I am aware. Maybe someone here has tried?

The drive looks normal. 99.9% are similar, very few are a net fit. The drum shaft has to lock in before the spine seats on the fore and aft shelves. This tolerance is designed-in to accommodate variances in molding and wear. Doesn't really rock around when in use. When you pedal, it seats forward. I would not be concerned with this.

A rubber shim in the back of the Mirage Drive well can relieve most rocking, just try the fit before tacking into place.

Thanks for the idea, i'll give it a try, when I can get to the water. My wife said boats don't qualify as social distancing because I have to get on the water first.

My adventure island is a year old and the knuckle joints move just like the youtube vid. Is it made to have some movement or none at all? I seared a rivet and all I was given was rivets to replace. Should I file a warranty claim? Would like to know how much movement everyone else has or are they all ridged.

That movement shown in Mmckee's post looks normal to me. I own a tandem and single. I've owned 2 other singles.
