Post subject:  Removing the Down Rudder cleat on a AI - SOLVED

Heya.

I'm doing a bit of maintenance on my 'new' AIs. The map pocket on both are degraded so I'm replacing them.

However the down rudder cleat is placed directly over the map pocket - so I've got to get that off too. This is where things came to a halt.

Does anyone know what size nut is on the back of these bolts? I've tried feeling it out but I just can't seem to get a spanner to hold.

I found one reference to the map pocket in this forum - off hand reference likening the process to artificially inseminating a cow - so apt. No solution though.

Suggestions please.

Update: I asked my neighbour - a good mechanic and better mate, to help. He had a box of deep socket heads. They're 11/32" bolts.
