I have a brand new 2018 model year Adventure Island. The cleats for the rudder line are very stiff, so they won't engage. In contrast, the cam parts on the sail cleats swivel very easily. On the rudder cleats, when I pull back the line, the cleat parts don't rotate, so I can't get the line in between them to get gripped.
I can force the line into them with a screwdriver to make it work, but obviously that's not a solution, but it does prove that the cams can rotate, and engage.
I think there must be some spring tension setting that is set way way too high.
What's the solution? There are two screws on the top, but I'm afraid I'll end up making the boat leak, and not fixing the issue.
