If you have an older TI where the mast plate is welded to the forward side of the cross bar be sure to check that weld regularly, especially after a strong wind. This led to the whole thing being twisted so I couldn't easily get the mast out. Loosening the screws on the plate holding the ball bearings did the job. FWIW, this was obviously a weak point that was identified, as later models have that plate extend through the cross bar and welded on the aft side. |
