Post subject: | Spinnaker Rope Twist |
Hi, I have AI and TI, and I have a set of spinnaker for AI, I want to use this spinnaker for TI too, so I bought a longer rope from West Marine to install the AI spinnaker on TI. It was fine at beginning, but after 5 times retrieving and stretching, the rope start to twist, i am just wondering maybe the rope from West Marine the quality not good, maybe the original rope wont cause this twist, anyone know where can I buy the better quality rope which wont cause twist? Or this rope twist is common, whatever original or buy somewhere, all will cause this twist? Thanks Xia |

It sounds like you maybe bought the wrong kind of rope. West Marine sells many different kinds of rope, including 3-strand, polyester, dyneema, spectra, technora, kevlar and vectran. Some will twist under strain, some wont. Some float, some sink. Some are skinny and strong, but hard to hold in your hand. Here is a link to West Marine's "Guide to Choosing Running Rigging", which will help explain the differences, so you can make a better choice: https://www.westmarine.com/west-advisor ... gging.html |
