Post subject: | PA on F-150 with tanneau cover {?} |
I use a tanneau cover on the bed of my truck so when I am on the water I can store and lock gear in the bed. I usually transport the PA in the bed with the tailgate down. I am planning an extanded camping trip and need the bed space for camping gear. I have found two options for transporting the PA above the tanneau cover. I am looking for experience with either of these two options, and how far apart is too far apart for the cross supports? 1. Thule goal post hitch mounted rack with a set and go rack over the cab. http://www.thule.com/en/US/Products/Wat ... %20NA.aspx 2. I found a company that makes tanneau compatible plates to mount a cross bar accross the mid-section of the bed. I would also need a Thule set and go rack for the cab. http://www.oakorchardcanoe.com/truckrack2.php What are your recommendations? |

Can't offer you a lot of advise as to your question, but will tell you I bought a Trailex trailer to pull my PA on. My only advise would be, that you should buy the cradles from Hobie that are designed for the PA, once you get it up on your overhead rack. You must be a lot younger and taller than me, I can't imagine trying to get it on top of my vehicle by myself. Good luck.. |

Yea Ron I live in Fayetteville and have bought an Outback. I've had it for about 4 months and I'm seriously considering a trailer. I'm working on a receiver hitch system to let it stick out the back of my truck and it may work ok but with a trailer you can just leave it on the trailer loaded. I don't mind loading it on my truck rack as bad as having to load and unload everything when I get to the lake and at home. |
