I would just like to know if anyone has used a bow mount on there PA? I am looking at an i pilot model from Minn Kota. Thanks for any advice in advance |

There are a few on Youtube installed on Kayaks smaller than the PA. It's the best way to move the PA if you have the$$$. Just do it, you'll make everyone here jealous. Unlike the other Kakak specific motor/steering systems, it will always be a wireless trolling motor that can be used forever. With a #55 you could do 7+mph, and only drill 4 holes in the PA not 20. |

Well as if today I have mounted the bow mount on the stern and plan on testing it out tomorrow. Pics to follow. |

Finally got the I-pilot installed and did a quick test run. Very very happy with it. Might not look real pretty as a bow mount, but it sure does whats advertised. The Spot lock is my favorite feature so far: being able to hold my position and re-tie a lure or fight a fish without being blown half way across the lake or river is amazing. It holds you within 5 feet of the spot you choose in the strongest of winds or currents. Priceless! The record a track feature is also great : you can follow and record a contour line around the shoreline and go back and troll it over and over trying a different lure on each pass. Can't wait to go out again. Would I do this again. Without Question |

Have you thought of shortening the shaft? You can carefully remove the armature and unclip the brushes to remove the wires from inside the shaft, then you can cut it to length. How fast does the 55 lb. thrust pull the PA? |

Dry Bones Not sure if I want to cut the shaft because I might want to use it on an other boat. Got it up to almost 7 mph against a strong headwind. |

Sorry I might have have misquoted the speed not sure if my Humminbird gps was set to MPH or KPH. I will check out the max speed on my next outing and repost, I was playing with the features more the firsts time out than doing speed trials  Tom it is just the standard prop that comes with the Riptide |

I wondered, as I've found that a 55 lb thrust motor will not push the PA any faster than a 30 lb thrust motor if they're both running the same prop. Either will spin the factory props at the same maximum RPM. The only way to get more speed out of the larger motors is to move to a prop with a higher pitch. Otherwise you're not gaining anything. The PA will indeed move at more than 7 MPH, but not with the factory props offered by MinnKota or Motor Guide. Those props are designed to push 800 lb+ vessels. Thus the shallow pitch. My guess is that if you switch to MPH you're going to find that you're running between 4 and 4.3 MPH. |
