Here a few pics of my modified bait container to battery box.
I also installed a 4 gang switch panel to control my onboard LED night lights and any other accessories I want to add later!
Gotta love the blue!!!

I pulled my old transducer and battery box out of the Tarpon to get ready to rig it up on the new Hobie PA. I had this Walmart dry box for a battery box. It is the one they sell for like $5 in the camping section. It has a lot of metal on it that is starting to rust. I am thinking about upgrading that to some thing more rugged with less parts to corrode. What are you using for a battery box? Where do you place it in your PA? How is it secured? How did you get the power cable inside and seal it up? |

I used the rear tackle storage container as my battery holder. I cut the divider out and dropped my battery in and used a wire seal to run the power wire up to the fish finder. Its a pretty simple setup and the hatch is so far back that its really not good for anything else. The tackle container is water tight under the hatch and sits up so the chance of it getting wet is very low! Tight Lines!!! |

Find a cooler - a soft sided one is what I use. Mine has a plastic liner inside. It's easy to handle (has strong strap) and doesn't bump and bang around. I greatly prefer it over a plastic battery box. |

I went a different route. I got a cheap drybag just a tiny bit larger in the bottom than the battery. I attached a 1' segment of lampcord to the battery terminals, and a quick disconnect fitting to the other end for connecting to my FF. I extended the cord out the top of the bag on a diagonal, so that when it was sealed, rolled down and clipped shut, the cord would not cause too many wrinkles that would permit water inside. I have used this for 2 seasons and had no leakage, despite getting flipped a couple of times in breaking surf. I got the drybag at REI for < $15. I use the plastic dry box that Walmart sells with no problems so far. I keep the battery either right next to the seat or slightly foward of the seat. no holes to drill through the hull that way. |

Redwolf ........ I love that idea. That back hatch tray is so cut up it's worthless anyway ...... it there it won't get wet or thrown around ....... |

It works great for me and stays nice and dry and out of the way! I did use some packing foam to cushion mine so that it sites nice and snug! |

I should be able to snap a few pictures by this weekend. I am also waiting on my new YakAttack GearTracks to come in so I can set those up as well. I am toying with the idea of removing the side rails all together and using the GearTracks on both sides mounted directly to the gunwale. Lots of stuff going on! |

What kind of LED lights and how many are you using? Don't the LED lights take away your night vision? |
