I was told today by my dealer that Hobie told them (last year) that the heavy duty cart was no longer recommended for the Pro Angler because it could cause damage inside the scupper area due to the weight of the Pro Angler. I couldn't find anything to substantiate that claim and Hobie even shows a video on their web site of the Pro Angler being put on a "standard" cart. However, I would like to know if this is true. I ended up buying the heavy duty cart just for its convenience. |

It is my understanding that any use of the scupper hole for anything other than a drain hole is bad for the kayak. Not just a PA but any kayak. That being said, I put my ParkNPole through mine all the time. I don't have a cart yet but from watching people use the "strap ons", I think it would be worth the risk to use a scupper cart. I guess those seams inside the scupper are a weak point. I am fairly new to kayaking so that is what I have gathered over the past couple years... |

The Heavy duty Cart will do the trick. I believe for a short period when they first introduced the cart, the two post that penetrated through the scuppers were too short for the Pro Angler. they did not protrude all the way through and this is what would damage the scuppers. Make sure to adjust the clamp/post collars, included with the cart, properly to provide the best support. or follow some of the ideas mention by others on the forums. |

Get yourself a C-TUG with the KIWI wheels (non-inflatable style) and you won't have any problems. Best part is that it is made without any metal pieces, so no corrosion, and it breaks down and stores in seconds. |

I've been using Hobie scupper carts for 6 years and wouldn't use any others. Never had a problem with any of my kayaks or carts. The only way you can get in trouble with this cart is -- improper insertion (ex: boat falls or rolls on a partially inserted cart) -- cart legs not extending all the way through to the cargo well/cockpit (some of the older carts have short legs that are not enough for the PA) -- storing your boat on the cart (weight of the boat will cause it to sag in time)   Use it as intended and you'll be fine. Get whatever style suits your needs best.

I just picked up my new 2012 PA from BlackCreek Outfitters in Jacksonville today and am hoping to put it in the water in the morning...weather permitting. Since I also purchased a 2012 Revolution 11 for the wife, I needed 2 wheel carts. So I got the heavy duty Hobie cart and the C-Tug cart with the standard (air) wheels. I figured whichever one worked the best would be the one I would use and the wife's cart would get the other. I'll try to post some feedback here once I've been able to test both out. My 2012 PA does have the re-inforced black inserts in the rear scupper holes only. The adventure begins! |
