Hello, I have a Hobie Pro Angler and a Hobie Livewell. If I go on the water I first have to put some water into the livewell before the pump starts sucking up water. I have extended the hose that comes with the livewell but that doesn't make any difference. Is this normal behaviour or am I doing something stupid? Thank you in advance! |

Its called an air gap. They say all you have to do is peddle and force water into the inlet. I have seen mods, but cant find it right now. Or make it recirculate. Then freeze ziplocks and drop them in to keep it cool. Cause of the cholrine. |

If you leave tap water in an open container for 24 hours the chlorine will be gone and the water will be safe for fish. I freeze bottles of spring water so I can have a cold drink while fishing. |

I have the Hobie Livewell and always fill it with water first. I've never tried to fill it from the pump and would think it would have to be primed first if it would work at all. Some have expressed problems getting the pump to prime and recirculate even when the tank is filled with water but I've never had that problem. Just make sure you've taken the cap off the discharge side of the pump (inside the tank) and make sure the open end of the intake tube extends below the scupper beneath the PA and is pointing toward the bow. It should prime immediately after you start moving forward. |
