I am (hopefully) soon to be in a PA-12, my first kayak. I liked the H-bar in the PA-14 Demo, but I don't see many west coast guys using them. They just stand up and reel in tuna, sharks, yellowtail, etc. I will be primarily bass fishing in our lake and maybe some near shore, San Diego trips. Suggestions? Thanks, Jeff |

Your age, agility, and balance are all determinants of whether the H bar is either a nicety or a necessity. Hope this helps. Regards.... |

I bought one and use it mainly for helping me to get into and out of the boat. I leave it up all the time - it's not in my way, and wouldn't think of not having it. It's a plus, with very few, if any, minuses. |

I would be curious if those that have the H-bar have any problems fighting fish? If you are sitting down fighting a fish and the fish makes a run across the front of your PA with the H-bar up...what do you do? It seems like the bar might be in the way? Also, in another post someone mentioned that if someone grabs the H-bar when catching themselves when falling that it may capsize the PA? I don't know about you but I would rather fall out of the PA than have my PA end up up-side-down! I haven't had any problem standing up without the H-bar and I do quite a bit of moving around and casting w/flyrod. |

Is there going to be a different size H-Bar for the difference in size between the PA12 and PA14? |

I too use my H-bar to help me get in and out of kayak. Sure helps when "nature" calls! Another thing I use my H-bar for is when I am rigging my rods; find it easier to prop the rod on the bar. I haven't had a problem with fighting fish with the bar in the upright position. I find it more of an asset to have. |

I have an H-Bar I rarely used. $120 if you pick up. I am in Encinitas, CA. Ted |

We are going to start including 2 sets of braces with the H Bar - the shorter ones will be better for the PA12 (or for shorter guys) and the longer ones (which are standard now) will be for taller people or PA14 So the H Bar will work for either boat - next shipment of H Bars is on schedule to arrive in July. Some dealers have them in their inventory - but we are currently back ordered on them here at the factory. - so if you're looking for one, check around, they are out there, but until July they will be a little harder to come by. |
