Post subject:  Seat Mount Question

Top view and notice the yellow arrows.

In the picture the upper mount (port side) is not attached the same as the bottom mount (starboard side). In fact it is loose on the round bar with just the end caps keeping it in place. The front port rivet is in fact only on the black pipe. Hard to tell from that angle.

Is this "play" normal?

I am questioning if this is a defect or not.

Thanks.

It seemed odd to me but my hunch would be that they needed to keep one side slightly movable in order to line it up.
Just a guess though.

Yep, that's exactly the reason. Leaving a little play allows for getting the holes to line up with the retainer bolts. I find the alignment can change some with temperature. While you have the seat apart, you should think about adding a seat slider! (see other threads about making this modification)

Thanks...I removed the seat for the first time and noticed that side was loose that is why I asked.
